Artist in Residence
Introducing Wandler's artist in resident
Wandler’s aesthetic has always had an affinity with art and design. To emphasize this further a new collaboration concept has been introduced where Wandler invites an artist to their AIR (Artist in Residence) program. For a certain time Wandler becomes an artist’s home, where they are able to create their own vision of the collection, translated through their specialist medium.
Leading the start is designer, Germans Ermičs. Born in Riga, Latvia, he moved to the Netherlands in 2007 to study at the Design Academy Eindhoven. For this new collaboration Ermičs developed a visual language inspired by Wandler’s design aesthetic and philosophy where he further explored the importance of color and reflective surfaces.
The AIR collaboration includes the very first Wandler pop-up store in Harvey Nichols London. For the pop-up space his career propelling Ombré Glass Chair has been reimagined in mirror, a first, and something that he associated with Wandler’s use of metallic hardware featured on the bag designs.
